EMD's Tier 4 locomotive unveiled at last!
EMD's TIER 4 Demonstrator Locomotive for the North American Market (the SD70ACe-T4), was unveiled in October 4th at the RSI Show in BNSF's Northtown Yard in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The great shot was taken by Steven McKay just before all the crowds came storming in, and CRO thanks him for contributing his photo.

CAD Railway Industries - Lachine, QC
For the last three months, only CN was delivering rail cars and locomotives to CADRAIL while the CP spur into the locomotive repair shop, which was on a curved steep downward grade, was remodeled. Now complete, everything will come to CADRAIL over CP only, as CN has now abandoned, and in October began removing rails and plates on the Lachine branch.
One of the last CN 704's is passing the CN Lachine spur in Montreal this past April. This spur served only Canadian Allied Diesel, and the last trip to CADRIAL via CN was made October 17th, 2015. Almost the next day it was being removed. There is no need for it now as no other rail traffic or businesses on this line. The rebuilt CP spur will become CADRAIL sole railway access. As well these curved main line tracks between Autoroute 20 will at some point next year be removed as CN is currently laying brand new straight mainline tracks 300 feet to the right of this photo by Micheal Berry.
R.I.P. Lachine Spur - 1847-2015. What is now known as the CN Lachine Spur was part of the track built by the Montreal and Lachine Railroad (one of Canada's first railways) which built from Bonaventure Station to the wharf in Lachine (so that travellers could avoid riding the Lachine Rapids). Yesterday the last train passed on this line (on its way to Canadian Allied Diesel in Lachine) and today crew's started removing the rails and plates. The reason the spur is being removed is future highway construction. This was part of CN's mainline from Montreal to Toronto until about 1960.(Michel Berry Photo)
End of the line for the Lachine Spur - literally and figuratively. Just east of 10th avenue in Lachine. Cars are still on two tracks in the distance, as CAD does not have room for them yet. This was part of CN's mainline from Montreal to Toronto until about 1960.

Last year, bankrupt Industrial Rail Services Inc. cut up many of the stored RDC's to sell for scrap to help pay off their financial dept. The machines inside have also all been sold.

Bombardier Transportation Canada:
Rail technology leader Bombardier Transportation is further expanding its North American rail control presence with two new mass transit projects. The first project will deliver the BOMBARDIER CITYFLO 650 communications-based train control (CBTC) solution for Toronto's Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line. The contract with Crosslinx Transit Solutions is Bombardier's first rail control project in Canada. As part of the city's largest transit investment, this is a significant milestone marking Bombardier's expansion into the Canadian rail signalling market. A truly integrated system supplier, Bombardier is also delivering a fleet of BOMBARDIER FLEXITY Freedom light rail vehicles for the LRT line.
The Toronto Transit Commission wants the city to consider legal action against the maker of its new streetcar fleet, Bombardier, after the company told the TTC it will only be able to deliver 16 working streetcars by the end of the year.
The TTC says it was told yesterday by Bombardier that instead of the 23 streetcars expected to be in the hands of the commission by the end of 2015, they will likely only have 19, with 16 of the vehicles fit for service on Toronto streets. Once the TTC takes delivery of a streetcar, it must be thoroughly inspected and tested before it is put into service ( a new Bombardier-made streetcar seen on Spadina Avenue July 29-Courtney Heels/CP24 )
They have given us a host of excuses, TTC CEO
Andy Byford told CP24 on Friday. Bombardier has been incapable of sticking to
their production schedule so far. TTC staff is recommending that the TTC
board commence legal action, or make a claim allowed for already in the
contract, of $50 million for late delivery, against Bombardier. Staff is also
asking officials to consider seeking other damages from Bombardier to cover
the costs of maintaining its existing, ageing streetcar fleet to cover the
gap, customer impact costs incurred by using buses to cover under-resourced
streetcar routes, as well as the cost of TTC staff time spent dealing with the
late deliveries. Bombardier originally committed to delivering 67 streetcars
to the TTC by October 2015. There are only 10 in service today.
