The Model Work of Rob Arsenault

Rob who models CN 1980's era, has just finished off a trio of Atlas GP40-2LW units with various weathering styles. These units still running in service today are often in pretty paint! He posted photos the grubbiest one first. However, once he ran them on his layout, he was not overly impressed with the QSI sound units in them, they sounded almost synthesized to him!  However they sure run very smoothly! He also loved the Altas manufacturers flexible handrails too.

CN Pointe St-Charles Caboose is a great looking brass model from Overland:

Not to leave out Canada's other CLASS ONE, here is reworked Proto-2000 Canadian Pacific GP30 in the as-delivered CPR Tuscan Red and Grey.

CN GMD1 1012 with a trumped up weathering job. I have no idea what the real one looked like. I used some colors mixed from Microlux paints from Credit Valley Railway. (Rob Arsenault).

Jeremy McPhereson completed his mini project by adding a tie grapple to his Norscot Cat 315C.  It looks great with a CN Gondala loading scrap, Ties etc.

Recently master HO scale modeler Pelle Keld Soeborg made a thorough examination of the quality of the weathering on his older freight cars and found a good handful that needed to be taken care of, and updated. First of all, they needed yellow reflecting stripes to meet the requirements issued by the FRA but an improved weathering wouldn't harm them either. The first two of the bunch are finished, and back in service.

Pelle Keld Soeborg who models present day Union Pacific, wonders if the UP have any idea how much trouble their renumbering circus cause him? He had to update his UP SD9043Mac #8073 to #3540.

Braedan Dunne's  HO Scale CN GMD1

This Rapido model started out as CN GMD1 1012, but he quickly began working on renumbering the unit to CN 1063. After renumbering, he added the details, like grab irons, hood-mounted sandboxes and sandbox filler caps. The sandboxes were scratchbuilt from Evergreen strip styrene, and the front filler caps done by using the backs of two Details West horns. The rear sand filler caps were finished using filler caps from another diesel.
The weathering completed the whole model, with special thanks to Rob Arsenault who did the prototypical weathering job, based on the real life CN 1063 back in 2006.

The prototype photo was taken by Trevor Sokolan, and shows CN GMD1 1063 in 2006 while sitting in the deadline in Edmonton, AB.
