Photos from our CRO readers

The great Canadian roadswitcher the MLW RS-23 built back in 1960. Paul Trudel used a brass model from Van Hobby that was released in 1981, to create this fine example of his favourite switcher model! He bought it few years ago online, and finally painted it, and installed a Loksound decoder, with a 251 6-cylinder sound file! Here are the results!

The Photography of Jurg Ruedi

Jurg Ruedi is an HO scale modeler from Switzerland, and his hobbies blend trains with photography. His friend Stefan Foerg created many fabulous dioramas for him to display his train models, which were painted and weathered by friends of his in the hobby. He loves to bring his stuff outside into the sun and arrange it on the Dioramas for best results with real hills as the backdrop!

Rod Walker from Canada did the CEFX AC44ooCW 1021, and the CP AC44ooCW 9532. The Stack cars were made by Javier Carcano (of the USA), and the bridge diorama was built by Stefan Foerg (of Germany).

All these Engines and the Exactrail gondola are by Rod Walker. Including the ex-KCS CP SD40-2 670, ST&H SD40-2 5448, along with Garys impressive hand painted Graffiti on the Reefer.

Black CP SD40-2 3253 is a former NS (nee-SOU) high nose from Rod and the beautiful weathered Hopper from Michael Morrison (Alaska). This Diorama was my first H0 Diorama build by Rod Walker.

STL&H SD40-2 5448 is one his favorite engines done by Rod. The SOO LINE Car was weathered by Gary Christensen.

A lash up of CP power crosses the bridge lead by STL&H SD40-2 6448 which CP acquired from NRE in the 1990’s.

Jurg is also into US railroads and has these models: The SOO GP9 is by Gary Christensen from the weatheringshop.com who painted the GP9 and these railcars. He is the weathering King! The snow diorama is again from Stefan Foerg.

Check out this great SOO LINE caboose Hop! Javier Carcano did an awesome modeling job on the SOO F7! Right behind is the SOO GP9, and a brass Overland Caboose, both weathered by Gary Christensen.

Finally, we see a Southern Pacific GP9 (Athearn Genesis) sunbleached by Rod Walker, the cars again from Gary Christensen.

Braedan Dunne's HO Scale CN GMD1

This Rapido model started out as CN GMD1 1012, but he quickly began working on renumbering the unit to CN 1063. After renumbering, he added the details, like grab irons, hood-mounted sandboxes and sandbox filler caps. The sandboxes were scratchbuilt from Evergreen strip styrene, and the front filler caps done by using the backs of two Details West horns. The rear sand filler caps were finished using filler caps from another diesel.
The weathering completed the whole model, with special thanks to Rob Arsenault who did the prototypical weathering job, based on the real life CN 1063 back in 2006.

The prototype photo was taken by Trevor Sokolan, and shows CN GMD1 1063 in 2006 while sitting in the deadline in Edmonton, AB.
