The Northlander (ex-Trans Europe Express) locomotive was photographed by Doug Fleming in Barrie Ontario in the late 1970's, when the train was still running in its original configuration.  George’s Trains has the ROCO HO Scale version in stock in the Ontario Northland livery.

Just Announced

True Line Trains mentioned that they will be developing and soon releasing NSC 50' Exterior Post Newsprint box cars.  An official announcement should make its way to TLT website in the next short while.

The first release will be 10 rib ends, 10' plug doors with either straight or angled door posts. GTW, BCIT, BCOL, CNIS, and ONT.

Future releases will include the 9 rib end with 9' or 10' doors, the post at the extreme ends of the sides, for CP, QC, and ONT.

Athearn announced this morning on Facebook and at the Amherst Model Railroad Show in W. Springfield, MA that their next Genesis locomotive will be an EMD GP50. It is being produced in both high and low nose versions, with the first three roadnames being ATSF (blue and yellow warbonnet), CNW, and Southern. Models will come with roadname specific details, down to different antennas and conduit for Locotrol equipped Southern units. Retail price will be $189.98 for the DCC ready version and $289.98 for locomotives equipped with the SoundTraxx Tsunami DCC decoder.

Base model (Chassis and Trucks) is from Athearn Genesis SD60M with sound
Bodyshell SD60m from Rail Power Production

1.    First Segment of the Long Hood was smoothed right and left. Screen Filter self made; Interial filter screen of Athearn SD60m; modified Left side Blower Housing Angled Cannon & Company 2 times; Internal filter Hatch of Cannon & Company;
Right side big screen filter self made

2.    Segment of the Long Hood was retained except for minor modifications.
The Roof of the Long Hood was the 1. and 2. Segment completely smoothed.
Diesel Exhaust Katalysator was cut by two-dimensional CNC milling machine. Design and Dimensions self made; Assorted Louvers of Archer Fine Transfers (door 3-8 right and left of the Long Hood, bottom catalysator and various hatches).

3.    The 3. Segment of the Long Hood was cut out and removed the radiator screen and Modified. The new Flarit-Radiator is self made and was cut by two-dimensional CNC milling machine.  Radiator Screen self made; 3 Radiator Fan's SD60m Athearn Genesis, and others Parts of Evergreen self made

 This locomotive was an experiment, equipped with a catalytic converter. Pioneers were two Phase 1 SD70ACe # 8349 and # 8394. When presenting SD59mx was the catalystor according to our research, is not operational. Presumably these as the two SD70ACe was stripped down and put back into service. But for us, in spite of the great effort a challenge and a wonderful unit.

The Forest City Railway Society (FCRS)

he Forest City Railway Society (FCRS)  Slide Trade Day will be held on Saturday, April 13th from 11:00 to 22:00 (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.) at École secondaire Gabriel Dumont. Further details will follow. Montreal Model Train Exposition 2013

 The Montreal Model Train Exposition is a miniature train show presented each year in conjunction with Sun Youth Community Services, a non-profit organization renowned for its work in aiding those less fortunate in the Montreal community.

The 2013 Montreal Model Train Exposition will be held September 28 - 29, 2013 (Saturday and Sunday  from 10am - 5pm) at 4251 St Urbain Street, H2W 1V6, (corner of Marie-Anne). It’s an event the whole family can enjoy, with model trains of all scales running on modular layouts, or displayed.  As well there will be many flea market tables with used trains for sale and trade.  Bring back happy memories of the past and make new memories for the children of today. Time required to see the exposition is about 3 to 5 hours. $8 adults, $6 children. Please use public transit (bus routes 11, 29, 55, 97).
