LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
LETTERS I enjoy reading and viewing your monthly newsletter. I am an ex-CN Engineering employee (1969-1990) and am now employed in the railway supply industry (1990-date). Over the years in both careers I have enjoyed the opportunity to have unrestricted access to railway properties in the performance of my duties, and in the process have taken thousands of photographs. Most of my photos are related to MOW equipment as that is the field I have been involved in all of my railroad and subsequent career. I do, however, have quite a few motive power, passenger, and rolling stock photos that may be of interest to you and the viewers of CRO. When time permits I will submit a sampling of my photos for your review and consideration. Please visit our web site www.naescanada.com specifically the photo gallery to see some of the railroad equipment we currently offer to the industry. Many of the photos in our gallery were taken by me and/or our Sales Manager David Wylie who is also an ex-railroader (CP Engineering Work Equipment 19 years).

Paul O'Shell President & CEO NAES (Canada) Ltd. From Phil Mason: At the end of one of the run away tracks on the original 4% Field Hill is this steam locomotive wreck. Omer Lavallee determined that it was a 3ft gauge locomotive, and that it had either been dumped there by the contractor building the Spiral Tunnels, or had fallen off a flat car. The running gear was retrieved years ago. It is believed to be ex-Lethbridge Coal and Navigation, a GN subsidiary which ran from Great Falls MT. to Lethbridge AB. Phil Mason’s photograph was taken in 1978, obviously with the trees much bigger now! This locomotive has been the subject of much research. I was wondering if anyone has any more recent knowledge of it? Correction to “ON THE ROAD” The museum has an excellent collection and should be a stop on your trip to Bellevue Ohio. Here we see Wabash No 671 F7A diesel at the museum. In November 1964 it could have been seen highballing through Southern Ontario on the CASO. Found on this page: http://www.canadianrailwayobservations.com/2011/dec11/dec11road.htm Please note that the Wabash did not operate on the CASO - it used CN trackage rights from Windsor to Buffalo. From time to time due to derailments and strikes - they did use the CASO - but this was not very often.
