CADRAIL continues to do truck swap outs of designated locomotives from the Canadian Pacific Railway GE-fleet. Our visits to see the released units at St-Luc Diesel Shop show that they have had Hi-Ad trucks switched to the Steerable trucks, or vice-versa.
CADRAIL (and NRE-Silvis, IL) continue to install Cattron remote control equipment into GP38AC and GP38-2 locomotives for the Canadian Pacific Railway's RCL Program. Rapido Trains has announced that they have bought ex-VIA RDC-1 No. 6133. This one started out life on the Dominion Atlantic as No. 9058, and carried the same number with CP after 1966, before being sold to VIA in 1978. Under VIA, it was rebuilt and renumbered to 6133 in 1980.
.
Along with the other ex-VIA RDCs stored at the former IRSI shop in Moncton, 6133 was headed for the scrapper until Jason Shron and Chris Fox flew out there on January 14th, and negotiated to buy it.
Rapido is trying to raise money to move 6133 back to the Toronto area and to restore it. (via Andrew Jeanes)
Last year, bankrupt Industrial Rail Services Inc. cut up many of the stored RDC's to sell for scrap to help pay off their financial dept. The machines inside have also all been sold.

Alstom has received a contract from the Ministry of Railways to supply Indian Railways with 800 double section freight electric locomotives with associated long-term maintenance[2]. The total contract is worth above $3 billion. This project includes the set-up of a plant at Madhepura (Bihar state) and two maintenance depots at Saharanpur (Uttar Pradesh state) and Nagpur (Maharashtra state). The delivery of the locomotives will spread between 2018 and 2028. This project, one of the strongest endorsements of the "Make in India" policy of the government, will play a crucial role in boosting the infrastructure development in the country. The 100% Foreign Direct Investment in the railway sector allowed by the Government has provided a renewed push to the Indian mainline railway sector.
"This project, one of the biggest in Alstom's history, is a breakthrough for our presence in India and demonstrates the success of our global customer proximity strategy. We are extremely proud to be partnering with Indian Railways for this ambitious project which will be a game changer for Indian railway sector" declared Henri Poupart-Lafarge, Executive Vice President, Alstom. The Prima locomotive for Indian Railways will be 9,000 kW at the wheel rim and will run at a speed up to 120 km/h. This contract positions Alstom as the number one on heavy-haul electric locomotives segment with now over 1,200 double locomotives ordered for the last decade.
Alstom has several sites in India including a signalling, telecoms and train engineering unit in Bangalore, a metro manufacturing facility in Sri City and a traction systems manufacturing unit in Coimbatore. Alstom has strong references in India in the urban segment for cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Jaipur, Chennai, Kochi and Lucknow. The contract is expected to be booked in the course of 2016, 13 years for the first 250 locomotives and 4 years for the following 250.
About Prima:
The Prima range is covering all market segments of locomotives from heavy-haul

Heer are before and after pictures of RJC submitted by Michael Fair. Currently it is on static display outside US Foods on its own stub track just outside Conway, SC. RJ Corman brought this unit down here under the cover of darkness, but it is now a shell of its former self.
This is the same exact locomotive that is out there, only in different colors. Canadian Pacific considered ordering ordering 35 of these GG20B (Green Goat, 2000HP, Battery Powered) Green Goats as they were called then. The number series was CP 1700-1706. CP was not impressed with the first ones that arrived as they did not hold the battery charge, sio th contract was cancelled in late 2006, thus sending these back to Railpower. It is powered by a CAT C9 300 HP Genset, and a battery bank (the mushroom things are where the batteries are located). Railpower went bankrupt in 2009, and RJ Corman, who recently bought the Carolina Southern, bought Railpower under the name RJ Corman Railpower. The Railpower Name has been painted over on the displayed unit. Here is the history of RJC 1701-CP 8626 to CP 1635 to CP 1701 to RPRX 1701 to RJC 1701.
